The EEC already implemented various projects in Mongolia. Here are some of them, which we realized in the last years.

  • In the autumn of 2012, the project “Ecological Education Training for rural communities in Bayankhongor aimag” was implemented for environmental education in small-scale mining regions of Bayankhongor aimag for the Sustainable Artisanal Mining Project SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation). The objective of this project was to increase the general ecological education within the population of Bayankhongor aimag and to improve the management structures of the aimag’s eco-center. Trainings on general environmental themes for children and special seminars about mining and re-naturalization were organized for officials, miners and local population of Aimag- and Soum center as well as on the mining sites. In addition, information materials were provided to the residents.
  • In 2012 and 2013, two Eco-Schools Projects of GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH-GIZ) were implemented. The first project “Elaboration and piloting of a school biology lesson curriculum supplement on planting trees” was implemented in the pilot school 57 of Chingeltei District, which focused on the development of a curriculum supplement on planting trees and their implementation in biology lesson. The 16th school of Sukhbaatar District was the second pilot school of our project “Eco school project focusing on environmental education” where in addition to advising about Eco-Schools, environmental education of the students and teachers played an important role.
  • In 2014 and 2015, the EEC carried out in collaboration with the Verein der Mongolischen Akademiker (Association of Mongolian academics) the project “Learning greenhouse for environmental education“. The project was financed by the Centrum fuer Internationale Migration und Entwicklung (The Centre for International Migration and Development-CIM) on behalf of Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development-BMZ). The objectives of this project were firstly to improve and expand the offers of the EEC in Ulaanbaatar and secondly to contribute towards general public environmental awareness. Within the project framework was amongst others the complete renovation of the EEC greenhouse and converting it into a learning greenhouse with 10 interactive teaching stations.
